"Scanning BIOS image in hard drive" HELP!!!

Recommended by Wim's BIOS...

That is all that my PC says now when I try to boot it up.
I can't get into the BIOS to flash it and I have already taken everything
out and reinstalled. The specifics are as follows:

AMD 64 processor
Gigabyte GA-K8VT800M motherboard
1 Gig of RAM
128 Meg Video card


I guess I could Flash my BIOS, if I could get into it but I can't unless someone knows a way around the Boot Block program.

Or do I need to just buy another motherboard.

Isn't your floppy accessed?

It doesn't get far enough to access the floppy. This is the VERY first thing that comes up.

Is it still under warranty, and have you contacted Gigabyte with the problem?

Sorry, in a hurry earlier & did'nt have time to do a full post.

According to the Gigabyte docs, if the BIOS is corrupted it will try to auto-restore from a hidden image on the hard drive, and this is what's causing the message.

Make sure the original hard drive is set up the same as it was when the machine last booted & see what happens..

Other than that, is it one of the 'dual bios' boards? Some have a backup BIOS rom & a link or whatever to select that if the main one is damaged.

Some may also auto recover if you put the correct BIOS file for the board on an otherwise blank floppy, but this only has a chance if it's getting far enough to try the floppy drive..
