Help: problem with a Palmax PD1000

Primary IDE channel should normally be enabled in bios settings.

Did you do anything special (drop the machine, load drivers, ...) before the problems started?

Well. I buy this in eBay. The seller tells me before this problem runs well. I dont know if he updated the Bios in a wrong way. The Machine is in a perfect state... and I verify the hard disk is ok.

This is just an idea. I'm jsut making this up so I'm not sure you would want to try this.

Is there any battery on the motherboard (other than the removable battery of the PD-1000 itself?).

If there is, maybe removing it and all otehr batteries for some time will reset the BIOS?

No. Only the removable battery. I just unplugged it for several days, hope it will reset the BIOS !

Did the PD-1000 work with this specific hdd before?

Anyway, maybe you should try uninstalling the hdd and see if it can boot from a floppy?

I dont understand anything. Today I switch on the Palmax and... RUNS OK!!!!
Incredible! I take some pictures I'll post tomorrow cause I dont want to believe it was only a dream!
I made some tests: the hard disk runs ok. I boot from a floppy one FreeDOS and it's ok.
Three hours later I siwtch on again and... Oh! the nightmare another time
So... I was thinking... I left the Palmax without battery around 3-4 days, with the chasis open... so, I think:

a. Is not the hardrive, Runs ok
b. Is not the keyboard.
c. The CMOS? mmmmh
d. The Battery? I started to think it was the guilty... The seller told me He changed the battery and... if it's possible its performance damage the system??? Anyone has similar experience?

1. Perhaps istead of a CMOS battery the PD-1000 has a nonremovable battery or capacitator, (like Pocket PCs have) and this gets complete discharged when you leave it for three days.

2. Maybe a loose contact

3. Maybe its overheating

4. Leave it again for three days and try again. Then maybe re-flash the BIOS? (Longshot I think)

yeah, it's something about voltage or CMOS. It runs ok when the Palmax is unplugged and its battery reomved for a pair of days: the message is clear-> The CMOS is "clean". I found a original bios to setup... it's possible that BIOS is corrupt?

Actually for me it doesn't seem to be a likely cause of your problems.

But I don't have any other ideas
