Installing new motherboard Help!

I am installing a new motherboard Intel desktop d865gvhz. The unit
will power up but it will not power off without unplugging the power.
Also I get no signal to the monitor. Sorry I am a beginner at this and realize there are no drivers installed yet, but shouldn,t there be some kind of screen to install the drivers?I was hoping someone here could
give me a checklist here , any help would be appreciated. thanks John

Are you sure all the components were ok before?

Do you not get video in BIOS or are you only talking about the O/S?

As for shutdown, Windows may power off the system when you use the shutdown option but if you are using the case power button you often need to hold the button down for several seconds (5 or more seconds sometimes) before the system will power off.
