OK, I start out with a 4GB (not sure of company) HD and a 10GB Maxtor Drive.
I bought a 40GB Western Digital HD with EZ Install and EZBIOS software.
My computer only supports 3 IDE drives: Now Being 2 HD's and a CD ROM.
I was going to get rid up the 4GB drive, but I had to transfer all of my system files first.
So I switched out my 10GB drive, set the jumper on my 40GB drive, and put it in as the primary slave.
The Computer wouldn't boot Windows.
I tried to use The CMOS settings to get get the drive working.
I set the Primary slave to AUTO and Mode to AUTO, then I went into the HDD Auto Detect. It detected my 4GB Drive on Primary Master (normal)and then went on to the Primary Slave and claimed to be detecting, but nothing was coming. It wouldn't let me "Hit Esc to skip" so I restarted my computer.
Looking at my HD manual, I saw that EZInstall (that came with the 40GB drive) said it could transfer my files.
At first, my computer wouldn't boot off of the EZInstall Floppy so I checked out the standard CMOS Settings and told my computer that there was no Primary Slave. Then I saved and exitted the CMOS and it booted from the EZInstall disk.
I told it to copy all files from the 4GB drive to the 40GB drive.
I then accepted the Partition for FAT32 (it was 40010MB). After copying the files it said my drive was ready and to hit escape then restart my copmuter without a disk.
I instead turned off my computer, and switched the Drives and jumper cables so that my 40GB drive was master and my 10GB drive was slave.
My computer doesn't boot and floppies wont work either.
I've tried messing with the CMOS and nothing works.
Is there something I can do without changing drives or should i go back to the 4GB and 40GB together to try EZInstall things again?

What board do you have? If you don't know, post BIOS ID string.
Don't use EZ install. Use tools that came with your operating system instead.

I guess I just need a BIOS Upgrade...I looked down at the other topics in this forum.
I'm new here, anyway.
Not that it was that hard to tell.
