Hi,

I can host the BIOS file on wimsbios.com to make sharing easier :)
Just send it via email to me and I'll put it available for download.

kr,
Wim

I want to keep track of the bioses so in the event of an official upgrade I can mass-mail the news. If things really go out of hand I'll host in on elhvb.com as traffic is unlimited with that hosting package...

Edwin, thanks for the e-mail. Just installed the bios and the system seems to be normal now. No more cpu usage at 100% idle now, hopefully all is good. Once again, thanks.

Thanks Edwin.
My computer runs so much better.
To bad you guys don't work for compaq/HP. You give 100% better service.

Fan control 3.14

Postby spokethedog » Tue Dec 26, 2006 5:19 pm

Hi, I don't know if you guys know this or not but if you press f11 instead of f1 the bios setup gives you more options for turning off the fan monitor. Example press f11 then go to advanced then scroll down to hardware monitor.

That's very helpful info--works on my Compaq SR1710NX. Also gives ability to control fan ramping and delta, etc.

I didn't see this anywhere in the documentation or online--must have missed it. How did you find this option?

Now I can install a low-speed chassis fan and cut the noise level a bit. And then explore some other key combinations to see if there are any other hidden menus.

Honestly I found it by accident, it loaded up the bios page and i found that there was more options under hardware monitor.

For those of you that want experiment around a bit, here is some info:
http://www.geocities.com/whydothis1000/ ... erinem.htm

If any of you can make a half-decent somewhat universal working unlocked bios with options that everyone likes I'd be happy to host it/email it around. Of course the second it leaves my mailbox no warranties made. I'm merely passing it through rather than pioneering myself (haven't got an AmberineM nor the time to tinker about).

I need 3.14 also. I thought I'd be smart and buy a bios. It doesn't work with windows xp x64, so I need to go back.
