I just installed a 250 Seagate hardrive. I started out fresh and installed Windows XP. And from time to time, I get the blue screen of death. I'm thinking that it might be time to update the bios. I'm not sure where to start to find an update for my motherboard. Is there anyone willing to help me out? I'm just scared to download the wrong thing and my computer won't start.

Try another power supply. The original that comes with eMachines is cr*p.

I just bought a new power supply right before I did the reformat. That's what I thought at first, but didn't solve my problem =(

make sure you get the right bios version for your PCB revision, there's 4 different PCB revisions.

open the case and check the top surface. it should be printed on there somewhere.

I see a stick with PhoenixBios Stick. But nothing about the PCB. Would it be a sticker on the the motherboard? I can take some pictures of the motherboard if that would help.

Look a little closer on the motherboard, FIC retail and OEM boards ahould have the PCB/Revision number either printed betwenn the PCI slots just behind the model number or as a small print somewhere in the corner near the last expansion slot.
