hello all

i've been given a box of 10 laptop hard drives 40gig size, when i tested them they werent detected in the bios? could anyone tell me if they know whats happening with them and if they can be fixed or are they a lost cause? if i tried running them through an external caddy would this help?

maybe they went the way all hdds will go one day? okay, seriously: check the cabeling, check if they start running if you apply power through the 44pin connector and finally check the jumpers on the drive if there are any. if they are not detected by the bios there's something very wrong with the drives (and i'm not talking about the bios).
