CPU Upgrade Problem

Postby SCSnare » Thu Aug 09, 2007 6:47 am

I currently have an Intel Pentium 4 2.60GHz CPU Socket 478. I'm trying to upgrade to an Intel Pentium 4 3.0E Prescott 3.0GHz 1MB L2 Cache Socket 478. My motherboard is an Intel D865GLC. According to Intel's website, my motherboard should support the new CPU as long as the BIOS on the board is P13 or greater. However, my current BIOS is BF86510A.15A.0030.P05. I tried updating my BIOS, however it gave me an error stating that "this system does not support flash memory." Is there anything I can do, or should I just return the new CPU? Thanks.
