PC Chips Mobo M871G e SIS 760GX

A friend just bought a LG 17" Widescreen and unfortunatly on the resolution tab there are no widescreen resolutions to choose. Will just updating the drivers work or do I need to flash the vbios?

The last bios for the motherboard is pretty old 2005/09/15 so I don´t even know if its worth upgrading.

Also I question does the lastes sis drivers update vbios? Or that is only possible flashing much like a mobo bios.
