| I have a very bad hard drive problem. My wd 40gb does not boot. I have tried the sys c: technique, but it didn't work. The data lifeguard tools reported the following error "there was a device error in reading drive 1, absolute sector 0, cluster1". Scandisk(by booting from floppy) also repeated the same error "can't read the first cluster". I can access c: by booting from a floppy.
