Situation:
MB: Sapphire Axion A3-A275
Chipset: ATI A3-M275
BIOS: Award, vers. unknkown, explained below
OS: Win XP OEM pre-install

Symptoms:
After I bought the PC I installed a CD-RW from my older computer (CyberDrive CW058D), but it causes WinXP to freeze on startup. It works fine in Safe Mode: I can burn CDs and play them, and Device Manager doesn't report any problems. The older computer was Win95. When I disable the CD-RW it boots fine.
NOTE: the CD-RW is on WinXP's HCL.

To complicate things:
1. My MB manual doesn't tell me how to flash the BIOS.
2. The system boots so fast I can't catch the BIOS s/n!

Thanks in advance for your help.

Update the CD-RW firmware ftp://ftp.cyberdrive.com.tw/Firmware/58D150D.zip

The board might be PC Partner.

Change the memory test option to stop fast memory test.

Hi,

I already made sure I had the latest firmware, but thanks for the tip.
Anyone else have an idea?
