I am getting an event viewer error
AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to read from an illegal IO port address (0xcfc),
Microsoft indicates that I should get a BIOS update.
I have
Award Modular BIOS V6.00PG
Bios ID: 12/06/2000-8363-686A-K7VZMC
Chipset: VIA 82C305 Rev 3
Bios Eval: K7VZM Ver 1.1g 12/06/200
I am unsure of what to do from here
thanks

ok, I got the .bin file you posted. Sorry to sound silly, but what do I do with this file now ?
Also I looked at the problem this file fixes, it doesn't seem to talk about the ACPI fix. Do I need an AWARD bios update also ?
thanks in advance.

| I just went to the TW ECS site was able to download the bios upgrade file. I just canceled the language download. Also if you go to the support page you will find the flash utility http://www.ecs.com.tw/support/support.htm and you need to download the 8.16a version. You might want to read thier "How to update BIOS....

thanks. I got it now and will flash. I noticed the lastest bios update for K7VZA V3.4 fixes the error I mentioned above (ACPI errors), but K7VZA 1.2e (I have v1.1g) does not.
Does that mean I'm stuck with this error due to my mother board ?

I meant to say
thanks. I got it now and will flash. I noticed the lastest bios update for K7VZM V3.6 fixes the error I mentioned above (ACPI errors), but K7VZM 1.2e (I have v1.1g) does not.
Anyway, I did the 1.2e flash as recommended here and the problem seems to have been resolved.
thanks for all your help.
