Hi all,

I have an Asus A8N-E board with a Phoenix Awardbios and am irritated by only being able to set the vcore to a max of 1.55v.
You might say nothing can be done but wait a sec please.
With AIBooster the vcore can be set to a max of 1.65v so this would lead me to believe that a bios mod to get to a max of 1.65v (maybe even more?) is possible.

But now, how do I get this done? Anyone? Ideas?

After downloading and checking the BIOS file:

... I could see, that you should be able to set the voltage up to:
1.650 V

same problem here

have the 1010 BIOS installed on A8N-E, A64 3200+ CPU (venice core 90nm, Vcore standard 1.4V)

max Vcore in BIOS is 1.55V (i think max Vcore in BIOS is depending on used CPU, so with athlons based on clawhammer or newcastle core (Vcore_standard 1.5V, 130nm) it should be possible to set higher Vcore than 1.55V in BIOS.

i'm running right now 10*278=2780mhz @1.55V, but since CPU temperatures are still low, i'd like to raise Vcore to 1.65V to check out if stable 2950mhz are reachable Smile


other question: the A8N-E BIOS offers 33mhz steps for RAM configuration above DDR400 (DDR433, DDR466, DDR500) BUT only 66mhz steps below DDR400 (DDR333, DDR266, DDR200).
based on this facts, it's difficult to fine-tune RAM to optimum speed when overclocking (have to set RAM divider to DDR266 = 185mhz real or DDR333 = 231mhz ---> not working).

why are there no RAM divider like DDR366, DDR300...? DFI offers this options on their Lanparty boards.

this kind of settings depends on the chipset and the clock generator chip. Both of these boards has the same chipset right? so, it must be coz the clock generator chip differ. If both are the same, then it's the manufacturer that decided not to include the support in the BIOS. But, I guess the clockgenerator chip is indeed differ, you may want to check it out physically to ensure about that Wink

thanks for responding.

they are both nforce4 boards, yes
since i don't have several boards here to compare them physically, i can't compare their hardware layout...


but, what i found out using the clocking tool "A64 Tweaker":

additional to the bios integrated ram dividers DDR333 and DDR266, i can set DDR300 (150mhz) in windows with A64 Tweaker (verified by CPU-Z - working)
that means, the hardware supports that mem divider, but BIOS does not support/offer this setting, or BIOS hides that option.

the tool offers to apply settings on startup, but for any reason, that works not on my machine after booting. so i'm still interested to get this option 'natively' supported by BIOS.

as is see, Borg Number One is able to have closer looks on BIOS files, maybe he, or someone else, can check out if that is only hidden option and, of course, if possible, unhide Smile
