Post subject: Turion MT in Acer |
|
|
I was planning on upgrading my Acer Ferrari 4005 cpu to a Turion MT that uses less power than the ML thats currently in it. I have read in several forums that the Acer's that came with ML's don't support MT's, they won't boot at all.(interestingly Acer's that came with semprons will support both MT and ML.)
Well I know the hardware is compatible because they are the same chip, just the MT is capable of running at lower voltage but can run at the ML voltage.
So I wanted to see if anyone knows of a way to mod the BIOS to make it support the MT. It doesn't need to have the MT p-states or anything, it just needs to boot. Thanks for any advice.

Still no support for the turion in their latest bios? Ask Acer, thye are using some sort of weird proprietary bios we can't patch.
