I just recently purchased a new computer that I built myself...
Everything was going great until I first tried to start the computer up, and it failed to POST at all, and the LCD screen on my motherboard read "C1", some sort of a memory error. Well, I had bought 1gb of Patriot DDR400 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220006 ) and I installed them in DIMM slots 1 and 2. So, after much tinkering I got my computer to boot by putting one stick in slot one and the other in slot 3... strange.
Anyway so I was optimistic after that until I was simply browsing the internet and using Windows Media Player when I received the blue screen of death "Machine Check Exception". Well, this happens to everybody once and awhile so I restarted... the problem is that it happens every day, with or without a blue screen. I am overclocked to 2.4ghz, but I've tried fiddling with that and the stability isn't affected by CPU clocks or voltage. I've tried using friends advice by changing advanced memory settings in my BIOS but I don't really know what I'm doing in that respect, I really only set them to what he told me to... Also, I've flashed my BIOS with the latest one available off of the EpoX website.
Any help regarding my situation would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Tony

PS: I use speedfan and from what I can tell my temps don't get very high at all.

OK. Remember, an unstable system won't run any better when overclocked. Maybe it's time to take a step back and see if you do have a hardware issue by simply running the stuff at its designed speed first.

Nope... didn't work... tried resetting bios to "Fail-Safe Defaults" and it locks up just as much as before

Maybe a memory incompatibility or a problem with your memory.

Try to up your memory voltage (VDIMM) to 2.7V (is there any voltag specified for this memory other than standard 2.5/2.6V?)

Try to reduce memory speed from 200 to 166 MHz and test again.
