Build ID: LG IBM i440BX v2.07
I checked the Bios setup features and it doesn't have a "CPU Plug and Play Support". I'm using a Windows XP SP2 with 256 SDRAM and Pentium II CPU. My PC sometimes freezes for about 2 secs. and I hear a 'click' sound from my Seagate 20G PATA harddisk.
Sorry fo the nuisance...newbie
thanks and God bless!

So it looks to be some kind of OEM version. Have you tried the LG website to get some support or a newer Bios ?
Please have a look at your board what motherboard model number and Revision ist printed onto it. Should looke like MS-6119 Ver:1.1 or similar. Usually located between the PCI slots.
We need to properly identify the board in order to give advice to use a patched version of your Bios or the option to flash a MSI retail Bios

MS-6119 Rev 1.1 should be with DIP switches or jumpersto configure the CPU. MSI referred to this revision sometimes as standard version, rev 1.2 and higher as "with CPU PnP function"
Many OEM-6119 were capable of running with their MSI retail Bios but there's no guarantee it works.
Does your board come from a branded system - looks like LG/IBM. What does their support site state ?

there's no such website of LG/IBM its only a partnership.
I bought my motherboard from a surplus shop...they said that its a revived motherboard and they know little about it and said that it can be upgraded???!...and i think they revived it with a wrong BIOS software...
I've visited the Microstar website and found a BIOS with the exact version of my motherboard as printed on it. Do you think I can flash it...need instructions on flashing BIOS...thanks!

get uniflash here:
http://www.uniflash.org/
and make a backup first, email that backup to me so I can have a look at it's OEM/retail status. If it is IBM that would be the first OEM board from MSI for them.

sent a patched bios. I do NOT like clicking noises from harddisks. You can use up to 120GB disks with the new so it shouldn't be a problem to find a replacement. Also 256MB is very little for windows XP + SP2... lots of disk swapping...

Post subject: error message while flashing BIOS |
|
|
I've been busy for a while..............stil studying in college.
I made a start-up disk in Windows XP and loaded the files that you've sent me. I booted from the start-up disk, typed in the A:\ prompt "uniflash.exe." I chose all options including advanced setup but to no avail. The error message always shows up after typing in the filename of the patched BIOS (which I accidentally deleted from my e-mail) which is required to flash the motherboard.
It says: Error Message: Unable to read information
I finally gave up and planned to buy a new motherboard and hard disk (with a manual, from an authorized dealer!!!).
256MB of memory is enough for windows XP. After booting, it will consume almost 224MB of memory but after 2-3 minutes the task manager will register an available memory of 151MB.
Thanks for the help guys. Good luck and God bless.

Sir, I have a MicroStar MS-6119 Version 1.1 BX2, is this the same? If so, can you send me a patched bios via email? Many thanks

MS-6119 Rev 1.1 should be the "standard" version - CPU configuration via jumper - Rev 1.2 or higher have CPU PnP via Bios. To use large HDD get the latest Bios MSI offerst for the standard version, only Rev 1.2 or higher need our patched Bios as the latest MSI Bios is still buggy.

Yes sir you are correct. Tried the 128GB patched bios for the 1.2 in my 1.1 and its buggy. So I go back to the latest MSI bios file but a max of 65GB only is the capacity it can detect. Tried 40GB (which is the only available drive at this time in my room) and is OK. Im trying to connect a 80GB hdd. Any bios patch for the MSI MS-6119 V1.1 BX2, is well appreciated. Thanks.
