Acer GRS400M motherboard

Hi

I suspect the CPU socket on this motherboard has gone.
So far as I have seen quoted, the s775 is only good for 20 insertions, the socket on this board appears iffy.

I have tried a quick exercise to get the pins straight but consider unlike prior to where I have been able to get a CPU working again, this time
around I have failed and do not want to lose a CPU for the sake of a bad short and the CPU being seated incorrectly.

Q - can you replace the socket 775?

Are you referring to the pins on the cpu being bent or are you referring to the pins on the the motherboard socket (yes these are also called pins). If you are referring to the cpu you will need to replace cpu because these are sensitive to damage. If you are referring to the motherboard you have to replace the motherboard with another socket 775 motherboard. The socket 775 is a pin grid array technology which means it requires zero insertion force and the processor can only go in one way. If the pins on the processor are damaged, you are trying to enter the processor in incorrectly. Lift bar and Align Pin 1 on processor with pin 1 on motherboard. The processor should go in easily if it does not, then it's being entered in the wrong way. After processor is entered correctly, apply GENTLE pressure with one finger to middle of processor and pull bar down. Pin 1 on motherboard is usually indicated by a triangle or pin 1 assignment. Yes I am fitting it the correct way.

The s775 has a couple of the pins askew and the top of two of them
have the contact fingers amiss i.e. the top 0.5mm

I got this board second user - can the s755 be replaced?

Where on earth would I get someone to replace a s775 socket?

I haven't an earthly. Please advise
