PC:
Acer Power S285
Motherboard: E661 FXM
SiS 661 FX IGP
Win XP Pro SP2

Monitor:
Acer AL1916W (LCD with 1440x900 wxga resolution available)

I am unable to update to gain the 1440x900 resolution that my monitor will support using the SiS IGP.

I have retrieved an updated mainboard bios from the acer site and followed the How-to on how to update the video bios. I followed every step to the letter, and I am still encountering the same problem.

I believe that where I am looking, it is showing my vbios as version 0.65.00, after updating the flash with the injected bios found on the how-to guide it remains the same. The location I am looking is Control Panel > Display > Settings > Advanced > Adapter > Adapter Information >
Chip Type: SiS 661 FX Rev 01
DAC Type: Internal
Memory Size: 64 MB
Adapter String: SiS Compatible VGA
Bios Information: 0.65.00

Following that under the Adapter Type: SiS 651_661FX_741_760_760GX_M661FX...etc > Properties > Driver >
Driver Provider: SiS
Driver Date: 7/13/2005
Driver Version: 6.14.10.3680

Attempting to update the UVGA3 to the most recent version of 3.83 nets me an error on restart of "This video driver was created for an older version of windows. The driver has been disabled and Windows has started using the Default VGA driver." The most recent version I can install of the UVGA3 is 3.66.

you need to update your video bios. the driver alone won't help you. please send me a backup of your current bios.
