Well, that, of course! Wink There wouldn't happen to be undocumented Vcore settings, eh?

If I could shoehorn a K6-2 450 onto this board, that would give me the board for Box 07 for Retro-LAN at Fandemonium 2008.

I don't have the M520/M535 manual but I assume that the lower Vcore's for K6-2/K6+ can only be reached by modding the board or using a VRM.
Can anyone provide more info on Vcore selections on these boards?
Anyway, I've patched the M520 Rel 1.1A 12/07/98 BIOS for 128GB IDE HDDsupport and added my usual K6-2CXT/K6+ fixes.

@bizzybody
Patched BIOS is sent to you by e-mail.

@KachiWachi
Sent you the BIOS as well. I hope you can fix that short-circuit! Sad

If anyone wants to participate in beta testing this BIOS, please send me an e-mail.
When testing is completed, I wil add this BIOS to my k6plus page.

Greetings, Jan.

3.3V or 3.5V linear regulation is done with a pair of medium power transistors.

@Jan -

The only way I will be able to do that is if I hand the board over to a "professional" solderer...which would be easy if I was still working at my previous location. Sad

I'll check for the BIOS though.

I would be interested to know if anyone else has this problem with their PM7900 (Rev. 1.3 IIRC).

Thanks.

PS - I purchased an HP 0950-3188 (Delta 0552806A) which will run an MMX CPU. You can search HP Parts for a description of this VRM. Cost is $20 US...though I got mine surplus (BRAND NEW) for $8 US. Wink

@Jan -

Did you patch the "L" or the "S" BIOS?

@KachiWachi

The original 12/07/98-i430VX-2A59GHTBC-00 BIOS I used only says: PC Chips M-520 (Rel 1.1A) but I believe it is a type "S" BIOS.

When I dig out my copy, I'll send you the "L" version (and whatever else I have).

Thanks.

That denotes a changed Bios-ID, AFAIK it's only reported for the last section. Early Pcchips i430VX series Bios used lower case t so 2A59GHtBC-00 instead of 2A59GHTBC-00 in the new (Unicore?) Bios. Later versions used a date code in this section.

If award flash refuse to update then use Uniflash.

It should...as I have used it on this board before.

What are the markings on your BIOS chip?

I'd say a H.T. Chip AKA Macronix MX28000, probably MX28000PPC. Award Flash should detect him properly. Uniflash had always problem with these chips, even in the latest 1.40 version.

If awardflash fails to update because of the changed bios-ID use the following syntax:

awdflash bios.rom /py /sn
-> modify it to match your filenames

If it still posts the message try a different version
