Post subject: Acer 1360 bios beeps!!!!!! Help |
|
|
Hi,
I've inherited an Acer 1360, on which i decided to flash the bios to update it to the mose recent 1.15 version..
On re-boot i get 1 long and 2 short beeps, the screen shows nothing, however the hard disk runs, and all the LEDs that should be on are on, the fan turns, then slows down, so it seems to do all it does normally but i cant see a screen!!
Can anyone help me please, i've tried several startup options by same every time
Thanks

Those codes (on an Award bios) means that the video card is incorrectly seated or has gone bad. Also check to ensure the monitor cable is connected properly. You could also try hooking it up to an external monitor.

i have the same notbook and i have had the same problem.
The 1.15 is bugged, it won't work.
you can revert back your bios with a "Boot Block".
The only thing you had to know is that there isn't a key combination to switch into this mode but you had to open the top-most part of the notebook, remove the keyboard and below there is a dipswitch, change it and turn it on with a crysis disk inside a usb floppy drive (personally i have used the v1.11 bios).
it should read the floppy for about 5 min and continue to beep until the operation is finished. turn it off, change the dip back and then turn it on again, it should work.
After that mine reports a problem with VGA so i downloaded the 1.14 from USA Acer Site, flashed it from DOS (never use windows to flash a bios if you can) and it now works flawlessly
Hope to be of assistance
