The utility to flash the BIOS is also there.

Make sure to read the Biostar documentation before attempting the upgrade.

Which BIOS version are you currently running? http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/186937-asus-g1s-support-ncq.html suggests it supports AHCI. version 300 is the latest in 205 and 300 they added some compatibilty SATA setting for Windows XP, maybe they have added AHCI too. The two BIOSes are the same version and date. I think it only applies when using the Intel Smart Response Technology (=use an SSD as the cache for a HDD) in combination with the Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers.
