Tomasz, POLAND.
BIOS upgrade for AMI 61-1229-001252-00101111 ?
1252 looks like Sono - the URL for Sono no longer works.
web.archive.org shows Sono site last updated in 2001...still looking

Best guess so far is Sono PB1408.
Please translate this:
http://www.frazpc.pl/sterowniki/down_free/3206
or download and email me the BIOS!

I downloaded from this:
http://www.frazpc.pl/sterowniki/down_free/3206
for 1 PLN + 22%VAT... B-)
but it is AWARD bios file.. not AMI! It is right for my mobo?
OK, so, I will send You original AMI bios via email...
Could You hack it for me???
TNX a lot!

Ah, so "free" does not mean the same in English and Polish?
All the sites in Poland which offer this BIOS have the same IP address:
adax.pl, frazpc.pl and jtt.pl or jtt.com.pl.
We cannot patch an AMI BIOS. Maybe we can try for an alternate identification of the board....

I have some SONO BIOSes, but don't know which one is for which board... AFAIK, they're downloaded from archive.org
Patched and tested BIOSes are at http://wims.rainbow-software.org
UniFlash - Flash anything anywhere
UniFlash - Flash anything anywhere
Look... according to this archived SONO page, an AWARD BIOS replaced ALL of the AMI updates for all of the PB1408's made by SONO.
http://web.archive.org/web/200102032323 ... upport.asp
But the award5.bin link is broken, so use the one in the PB1408.zip you provided. BTW, I downloaded it for free from that "free" ftp link...
(but I later found it here too: http://members.driverguide.com/driver/d ... rid=136808 )
03/24/2000-i440BX-ITE867-2A69KHJ9C-00
SONO 1408v2 Intel BX/ZX
(Don't worry about the v2. SONO simply renamed the boards to v2 when they moved to AWARD BIOS)
Note: there were 2 AMI versions: 128KB and 256KB. The AWARD BIOS is 256KB.
The latest AMI versions were:
128KB: 14a2cp08.rom and 14a2cp09.rom
256KB: P14bc107.rom and P14bc108.rom
(just in case Rainbow has them with their original names)

TNX, ajzchips!
I'll check them this week... if I could take that comp..!
It is very "important" machine in our office... I must be sure not to crush it.
My home comps were for "practise" fash&hot flash bioses...
In the office things MUST go right, You see.

If the manufacturer originally had AMI BIOS for your board and now makes available an AWARD BIOS, I would stick to AWARD.
Also, if your BIOS is 512K, I would stick to the 512K image provided by the manufacturer.
I don't recommend uses different BIOS types or sizes than what the manufacturer makes available for your specific board.
If you use the image that the manufacturer provides for your exact board, and you have a problem due to that image, then in my opinion it is not your fault. But if someone patches that image for you, then you are taking a risk and cannot blame the manufacturer if it goes wrong. If you need >32GB HDD support, I recommend using the image provided by the manufacturer if available.

Downloaded when the server was still up. Any takers?
