Hi,

I want to modify the AWARD-BIOS for the Shuttle-Mainboard AV18E.
I tried modbin6 V.01.00.37 (almost every entry is unreadable) and modbin6 V.01.00.38 (only a few entries are unreadable).
Is there a newer version than .38 ?
(I tried the 2.0 BETA already but that is even more worse than .37)

Best regards,
Uwe

Phoenix did supply a new version of modbin6 !
But you have to register for a $2000 p.a. :(

I will inform you if the new version is able to solve my problem.

The latest version is 2.00.00 (03/20).
With this version it is possible to edit the BIOS mentioned above !
(But there is still one entry (Onboard FDD Controller) that is marked with "XXX" in the editor...)

BTW, Phoenix said that it is possible to protect the BIOS against being modified with modbin (I read about such a suspicion in another thread in this forum).

Bye,

So, you was able to get a newer version with Phoenix? 8O What you needed do?
I tried search by modbin at http://www.phoenix.com site with Google but did not find any relevant info. Also tried Phoenix site search engine and same (none thing).
... BTW, Phoenix said that it is possible to protect the BIOS against being modified with modbin (I read about such a suspicion in another thread in this forum) ...
Appears you could contact they. So, may be anyone can do, hehe :D
... The latest version is 2.00.00 (03/20)...
A finding. Appears he not saied about the old 2.0beta (as he saied this old one 2.0beta worked worse) just about a newest version, reported as work better than others.
... But you have to register for a $2000 p.a. ...
Seems he not saied "you need pay US$ 2000.00 for it", just as:
"you need to contact they and turn they aware of you to get a 2000 (v2.00.00) version". BTW, I not aware about the "p.a" term that he saied after the zeros.

Anyway, LOL!!

Thanks,
Bruno.

Hi,

Thanks for the explanation NickS.

Well, what now I believe is he really saied "you need pay US$ 2000.00 for it" - per year.
It's diferent from what I believed before... :(
Also, after that, Uwe's posting became strange.

BTW, I found a working link to download the knew newers versions of Modbin6 v1.00.48, Modbin v4.51.82a, Cbrom v2.15, and Amibcp v7.51.03.
I posted it in other existent topic at above link:
http://www.wimsbios.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=886
Topic name: 'Modbin6 1.00.45 existing somewher'.
UPDATE: Argh, I loose the page link :?, and not found that even on browser cache (so the above written link for other topic will not have the promissed links, sorry). At least, a simple web searching can actually give some diferents links for theses in very few minutes.

But when trying refind the link, I found a important info about a dangerous insue bettwen MSI mainboards BIOSes and Amibcp v7.51.03 (priors versions does not help).
Just read this link: http://www.stormpages.com/crazyape/amibcp.html

I also created a new topic saying about that (it's on this same subforum):
'Warning: MSI BIOSes and AMIbcp insue -> corrupted BIOS'

I had tried Modbin6 version 1.00.12 and 2.00 beta with no success on 2 meg BIOSs (question marks in Edit Setup). I just recently tried version 1.00.38 and all seems to work just fine.

Just a data point. :)

Thanks Edwin. :)
I answered a repply to your e-mail.

BTW, someone know about the Modbin6 v1.00.43 and Modbin6 v1.00.45? If yes, also have theses versions or know download links for theses?
Athought theses are earlier (and olders) versions, if they are avaliable at a easy way, it can be interessing.
The existence of v-.45 was discovered by DennisS during a read (done by he) on a text file of BIOS revision history from a downloaded BIOS image of an Luck-Star mainboard; the v-.43 existence I got during a Web seach at Google.com and it's also related with a .txt BIOS revision history file from another Lucks-Star mainboard BIOSes.
·Link about v-.43: http://www.google.com.br/search?filter= ... in+1.00.43 -> it might show two Luck-Star's links, maybe some things more.
·Topic about v-.45: http://www.wimsbios.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=886 -> it's also about Modbin6 v1.00.48 download.

I received a copy of 1.00.48 (12/13/00) yesterday. It seems to have problems with a lot of BIOSs that 1.00.38 does a good job of. So far I don't know.

Also, all links I have come up with for 1.00.43 and .45 come up dead, so I don't know.

Anybody got ModBin6 1.00.53 yet?

If there's no typo in this table it should be somewhere, out there.

BTW, nice table for all dealing with ECS boards

The latest version I have been able to get is 1.00.48.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a list of Release Notices for these?

Does anyone know why there are so many versions of Modbin 6?
