well I'm new here,

at first, HI :D

I'm screwing at an old PC, just for fun,
its a 486 with an 5x86-133 Amd, and , I am astonished, there is an Flash Bioschip on the Board.
Now I changed the Epa-Logo with Convert 1.2 and want to reflash it to the Chip, but it wont work
there is always the Message that the Chip couldnt be erased,
trying Awdflash from Ver. 52c on to 8x, only the v.5x recognize the Flashchip, as 28F010 /12V
thats agree to the Jumpersetting (can change between 12V and 5V Eprom)

whats is the Reason ?
is the flashutil to young ?,
in the Manual of the Board stands something about Awdflash V1.2 !!
does that have someone still?

hope somebody can help,

greets from Vienna,
Antz

Try Uniflash

A 486 with Flashrom is very rare - are you really sure its a Flashrom ?

Some old Awdflash versions display "28F010/12V" even when they did not detect anything. Can you post some details about your board?

Could be any one of :
http://drivers.infomaniak.ch/main.php?s ... tilitaire/

Looks like flash52c is the one of the earliest versions around (if not the earliest).

If your board is one of the later models (ie with PCI slots or VLB that supports bus mastering), you might be in luck. Otherwise, best to chuck it and dig up something socket5/7.
Dumpsters of defunct .com and and telcom startups should have an ample supply. Just stay away from the OEMs like dell, compaq, gateway,
and acer. Those usually have phoenix bios's. Anything no-name will likely be award.

hi, folks

today I had an Idea,
if I haven't a 486 with Flash-Rom, I tried to make one..
now I've tried the following:

I take the Bios-Chip out of an old Soyo 586 Mobo who is broken,
its an 29EE010,
loosened the original Chip of the Mobo, started with Bootdisk,
removed the Chip, Jumper to 5V, put the other Chip into
and flashed the bin-File
and, I could not believe it almost, it works,
booting up as before !

so, now I have an 486-Mobo with Flash-Bios
-yeah- :D

486 boards with PCI are ready for flash ROMs - so it should work fine. Many of them came with (E)PROM because they were cheaper than flash ROMs.

There were at least two revisions of the KM-S4-1, one being a Rectron OEM, with that same BIOS ID string. I based my search on the BIOS ID, and not the physical features of the board.

BTW.: I've looked at Rectron FTP - and found no Rectron BIOSes...only PC Chips.
