40GB: AOpen Ax6BC

I have bought a new 40 gig hardrive that is not being recognised by my motherboard AOpen Ax6BC

My Bios info is

BIOS ID: 08/06/2002 - i440BX-00000006C-00
Award Plug & Play Bios Extensions V1.0A
