For intel CPUs there are "microcode patches" in the Award BIOS, one for each CPU type. It sounds as though you need one added for your Celeron, but I'm no expert in this area.

Does this problem stop your machine running ?

The BIOS simply does not know your CPU. I think that the freezing is NOT related to this.

Rainbow - do you know if they use a table for Intel CPUs as they do for the AMDs (like Jan Steunebrink described) ?

You can try patch your bios with this programm - http://rom.by/Award/patcher/bp-4beta_G.rar
But it`s beta-version and may be uncorrect patching - be carefull (use this only if you have safe-trying).
ps Sorry for my bad english and if you know russian you can all read (about BIOS Patcher) on my site (rom.by)

Windows 2000 and XP automatically update the cpu microcode. But it is done after each boot because it is in a volitile ram area in the cpu.
