Bios recognizes Pentium III as a Pentium II

Don't ask how to over-clock.

I'd like to update the BIOS.

The motherboard info is
Model i815EP-ITE8712

and i think its intel because the chipset is i815/E/EP

The current bios is
Award Modular BIOS v6.00PGN
03/01/01
03/01/2001-i815EP-IT8702-6A69RL1HC-00

Any ideas what to do and could it be for free?

Kind of a noob.

Thanks a lot!

Lucky-Star 6A815EP (4mbits BIOS)
There are not BIOS updates.
I have a BIOS for Mida 6A815EP:
OEM Sign-On: 6A815EP(S)-L6
08/21/2001-i815EP-IT8702-6A69RL1HC-00
More than 100,000 BIOS strings in my database just now!

Is the MIDA version 512KB too? I have the LuckyStar original version of 8/21/2001 but it's 256KB in size.
They must have decided to use cheaper 256KB chips since the 512KB BIOS easily zips to 170KB.

Your BIOS is recent enough to support just about any P3, unless it's a Tualatin... perhaps.

You should check the jumpers or CMOS setup in order to setup FSB for this CPU.
