Hi All.

1st off if I have posted this in the worng bit, can you please move this post to the right place.

Is there anyway to edit and or view a bios file to see what CPU's it supports?

Thanks For Your Time.

AFAIK, you need to decompile the BIOS to do this...unless the BIOS writer provides this information in a Readme file.

Thanks.

if it's an award bios for Slot1/S370 you can try 'cbrom'.
it would be helpful if you'd be a bit more specific about your problem.

This is all still regarding my post Possible dead Sony Vaio PCG-K415B Bios

A new bios chip has been ordered, programed & fitted and is still giving me the same problem.

So I am think ok it now has to be one of two things (1) CPU, or (2) Mainboard.

At this time I don't have a spare Socket 478 Motherboard to test the CPU, so I was thinking about buying a cheep Socket 478 CPU from ebay to see if the laptop would fire up.

On sony's web site it does not say what the min & max cpu speeds are support by this laptop, So I just wanted to find out if there is a way to find what the bios supports.

Best Regards.
