Dell XPS R450 BIOS doesn't recognize Pentium 3

I have a Dell XPS R450 that originally came with a 450MHz P2 (latest BIOS, version A13). I have since upgraded it to a P3 800MHz, but the BIOS shows it as a Pentium Pro 500MHz. 'cat /proc/cpuinfo' shows all the correct info, but I'm not sure if it's actually running at 800MHz or if it's using L2 cache or whatever might be screwed up. Is there a custom BIOS available anywhere to support Pentium 3 processors on the R450 or anything? I've already searched Google and am unable to find anything.

P2-450MHz or P3-450MHz is the very limit for that board.

I'm surprised it even starts with that 800MHz CPU. No custom bios is going to help, it is the regulators on the board that cannot handle this.

this page has all the info! very nice page with some details on voltage regulators, too :)
trust /proc/cpuinfo, the bios is wrong. you can also try /var/log/dmesg
