Don't ask how to over-clock.

Have a problem with this mobo recognising CPU correctly.

I installed a SL88T Smithfield 2.8GHz FSB 800MHz Dual Core CPU.

The mobo only recognises 1 core.
I have used a utility from Hirens 9.8 to interrogate CPU.
This util does recognise CPU as dual core, correct stepping etc.

MSI report this CPU is supported on this mobo.
Updated BIOS to latest from Medion v1.2K.

Tried to make visible, a number of hidden Medion BIOS options
with ModBin (BIOS is an AWARD v6.00).
This modded BIOS stopped the mobo from posting.
Reinstalled original (unmodded) Medion v1.2K BIOS.
System POSTs ok

There appears to be no CPU uCode updates with Medion BIOS v1.2K.
Suspect mobo may require a uCode update to recognise CPU
correctly but Medion BIOS appears to fail when modded.

Can anybody help?

Thanks

Resolved

The BIOS POST message in this instance referred to the number
of socketed CPU on the mobo. One only is therefore correct.

When tested with a OpenSUSE 11.1 Live CD.
Two CPUs reported!
