Hello,

Can anybody explain me, how motherboard knows which CPU use (I mean where in BIOS is information about known CPU's)?

I have Mobile Barton 3000+ and my mobo (Asus A7N8X) can't recognize CPU, so for instance I can't set multiplier below 11 (because I have multiplier 11x/5.5x and instead of 11 I have 5.5).

Is any chance to add to my BIOS attendance for my CPU type? How can I do this?

I know it change nothing except my mobo will properly recognize my CPU.

Best regards

...I know that...I can read...
Actually I have latest modded by trats BIOS which support my CPU, but trats wrote only "CPU String Name" to the BIOS.

I thought someone on this forum knows little more about BIOS'es...

Finally "The Hardware Archivist" can only say: "Go to motherboard producer and check new BIOS version which support your CPU"...

...so OK... thanks for replay
