Hi

I have motherboard Asus P5LD2-VM/S Rev. 4.00G with AMI BIOS ver. 0402 OEM MAXDATA .
CPU is Intel celeron 420 1,6 ghz and I wanted upgrade it with one stronger / better / faster CPU ,but can not find a list of supported CPU.

The ASUS suport told me tath motherboard is OEM and that they can not help me. :(

And here is the response from the MAXDATA :( :evil:
Due to the MAXDATA AG Insolvency in 2008 we are unable to provide you with more information on the old systems then the ones located on our ftp server at ftp://download.maxdata.de/. Other options are unfortunately unavailable as we don't have access to materials from the old MAXDATA AG.

If anyonehad any experience with this motherboard, specifically upgrading the BIOS or CPU or both any advice is welcome.

Here are some details:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I wanted to upgrade CPU but before that I wanted to upgrade my BIOS to AMI 0404 that I found in MAXDATA suport web page for my motherboard (Here are the official MAXDATA drivers and BIOS P5LD2-VM/S Ver. 4.00G ftp://ftp.maxdata.de/MAXDATA%20PCs/MAXD ... M%204.00G/ ). Now what interests me is, it's a fail 0404_BIOS_CD.iso which contains two .ROM files IDE.ROM and RAID.ROM, is not a classic BIOS with one BIOS ROM file so I assume that they will seek to I choose one of them. And there is no instruction on how do thet, properly upgrade bios.
There is also a file History_400.pdf explaining what was changed in the new BIOS .

Any advice or help about CPU/BIOS upgrades, thanks
sorry for bad english

If you are not using RAID now, use the IDE.ROM for the upgrade.

As for the CPU upgrade, I'm not entirely sure yet, looking into what the various patches translate to in CPU family terms (Prescott, Conroe etc). What is your budget for the CPU upgrade?

Price is not important , now the price for dual core is affordable.
The only thing that worries me is the compatibility of the CPU and BIOS, because I can not afford new motherboard :? .

I have found a reference for this board:
Ucode:M016F644 for ???????????
Ucode:M0DF330C for Prescott C0
Ucode:M1DF3417 for Prescott D0
Ucode:MBDF4117 for Prescott E0
Ucode:M9DF4305 for Prescott-2M N0
Ucode:MBDF4903 for Prescott G-1
Ucode:M5CF4A04 for Prescott 2M-T R0
Ucode:M04F620F for Cedar Mill & Presler B1
Ucode:M34F6404 for Cedar Mill, Presler, Presler XE C1
Ucode:M016F251 for ???????????? ----> Conroe L2 (Allendale) Core2 Duo E4xxx
Ucode:M0366004 for ???????????? ----> Conroe-L Celeron 4x0
Ucode:M016F982 for Conroe E-0
Ucode:M011066115 for ???????????? ---> Intel(R) Celeron(R) 65nm CPU

Ucode:M016FDA1 for Conroe M0 (Allendale) E4xxx
Ucode:M04F650B for Cedar Mill/Presler D0
Based on that your best option is a Core2 Duo E6600 or a Core2 Quad Q6600. It's not supporting the newer 45nm CPUs (E7xxx/E8xxx and Q7xxx/Q8xxx) or any of the Extreme series.

This I got from support Quant Electronic who purchased the MAXDATA !

On my question:
Hi Quant Electronic,

Where can I find BIOS update for my Favorit I5000 (P5LD2-VM/S Rev. 4.00)?
Current version is AMI 0402.
The answer was:
Hello,
Here you can find the Bios Update:
ftp://ftp.maxdata.de/MAXDATA%20PCs/MAXD ... M%204.00G/
My next question:
Hi,

Thanks for the link to the BIOS file for my PC. The BIOS CD contains the two. ROM file RAID.ROM and IDE.ROM which to choose, BIOS does not come with any Instruction.

I have another question ,does a my motherboard with updatet BIOS 0404 there is support for Core2 Quad Q6600 (65nm) I would like to upgrade it.
the answer is:
Hello,
store the files on floppy and flash

Q6600 is supported with no upgrade
I again ask just to confirm:
Hi,

My current version of BIOS is AMI 0402 are you sure that my motherboard (P5LD2-VM/S Rev. 4.00) supports Q6600 CPU.
I see you still have in offer MAXDATA Favorit I5000 with E4400 CPU 325.00 EUR (Is this the same?), I guess you speak from experience.
the answer is:
yes- the cpu q6600 is supported
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do not know what more to think :(, somewhere say is not supported and yet some say support.
Edwin how are you sure for the Q6600 support.
