Thanks alot for your suggestions...It might be easiest for me to try create a standard OS install CD out of a recovery version. Do you have any suggestions/ideas on how to go around doing this?

The only problem now, with new hard drive in my system, I cannot use Packard Bell restore CD (with operating system on it)...when I insert restore CD, I get this message how it can only be used with Packard Bell systems, so I guess I will get...

I have a PC from Packard Bell with dead/discarded hard drive. thanks everybody for your replies. I also contacted gigabyte tech support and they confirmed their bios update could and should be used here. So I did it, using their @bios program and everything was easy and worked great. My second 80 gb hard drive is up and running smooth. So much for compaq tech ...
