Asus Update sought for a Motherboard with a pension

Hello !

I have the following mainboard 9/9/97 Asus Aladin P5A Revision 1007.A Award modular Bios v4.51PG i44OLX-<P2L97>-oo (#401A00102) Asustek Flash Bios installed and after going through teadious clean install of Win 98Me I noticed that on the first auto boot in Dos the display said that both my Cd-Rom and Cd-Writer were found but with I cannot use the CD-Rom .mmm would I be right in thinking that posiably that the Bios is corrupt or do you think that I have a expired CD-Rom Drive :?: Help!

The BIOS sees the cdrom?
The OS sees the cdrom?
But it doesn't work?
Right?

And both Bios are very old ....
