Hello,

I have a Asus MB P5K31-VM/S which misses the BIOS chip. I know it should have an 8 Mb chip, but i do not know exactly how to find if what i have will fit or not, just by trial and error method. Does it exist somewhere a list of chipset-> Bios chip compatibility sheet? or something similar?

It should have an 8 pin DIP Chip.

send an email to Medion to ask what bios chip goes into the Medion MD6681.

No answer, but i saw that their site has tons of desktops with MSN numbers and the site doesn't recognize the MD number...Do you know the MSN corespondent to this MD number? If i know the MSN number of the PC i can get the download. It looks like this motherboard was specifically for this Medion as i can't find it on the ASUS website.

In the mean time i will dig some more.

Thank you very much for your kindness.

Alex.

Well, regarding this P5K31-VM/S motherboard it utilizes a 512Kb chip and the matching chipset boards at ASUS website are utilizing 1Mb chip so i can't do a proper flash for this board.

I would like to ask you kindly if you can direct me to a suitable bios file for this board...or maybe someone has the original MEDION file, which i doubt. The people at Medion seem to be preoccupied with the fact that i want to do an upgrade but i just want the original file.

Anyway, i would appreciate any recommendation of a bios file which has 512kb and fits just right in this motherboard chipset combo.

Thank you.

Are you looking for the bios software file or are you looking for the physical hardware bios chip?

If the bios file I can try to find that one in the Medion website.

I am looking for the file the actual file so i can run this motherboard with what it was supposed to run.

I also searched the Medion website, but i couldn't find any Medion MD 6681. A search on google for this model appears to be a Carrefour shopping mall offer from some time ago, but no identifier to look it up on the website. The website works only on MSN numbers for their products...

I will also try at Asus, but if you think you can find it and do not waste too much of your time i would really appreciate it.

In the mean time i will write an e-mail to ASUS and if we can't find anytthing maybe i will get a positive answer from Asus.

Thank you very much.

I found it on Bios-mods forum.

Here is the link. The downside is that you have to create an account in order to download the file.

Or you can download it directly from my website
