Does a jumper setting prohibit writing to all of the BIOS?

Hi. I am thinking about writing an application that will store some information into the non-resverved portion of the SMBIOS.

However, I would like to know if the apporach will work for all computers.

I understand that often a jumper setting must be moved before writing to the BIOS. Does this jumper keep from writing to all parts of the BIOS or just the parts that would be exposed to viruses?

Thanks,
Bill

If the jumper disables the WE pin, then all writing to the flashrom is disabled. Like in ECS's L7VMM2, for example.

Cheers!
