EFI on dell E1705

Is it possible to get to an EFI shell on the dell E1705, which i believe is the 945 mobile chipset? Is EFI even supported on this?

Yes, even if it is a BIOS machine, you can still run an EFI sample implementation with an EFI Shell.

Any tutorials? Is it possible to boot it with grub? I just want to test some things to see if they work correclty with EFI.

Have you looked at the TianoCore site yet? https://www.tianocore.org/

Intel EFI sample implementation (which I believe TianoCore's is based on) is here: http://www.intel.com/technology/efi/main_sample.htm

The OSx86Project has developed, among other things, its own version of the EFI sample with shell on a bootable ISO CD: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=18020
