I have a Asus P5B-VM with AMI bios.

I'm trying to mod my bios with MMTOOL to integrate a bios for my SATA-PCI-CARD which is biosless (its a VIA VT6421A).

Can i remove the "0E OEM Logo" to make room for my additional "20 PCI Option ROM" module?

The biosfile is 1024kb and it seems that the logo uses 90kb?! The PCI-ROM modules is about 60kb.

If i remove the logo, i can fit in the PCI-ROM. But will this work to boot?
Or should i replace fullscreen logo with some smaller img (thinking an all black 640x480 jpg/bmp/pcx).

Please help me gurus, i dont wanna flash this and have it not booting up because the logo is missing.

For future readers and searchers. This is all thanks to BIOS guru cp!

I removed the "0E OEM Logo" and added in the 6421V431.ROM (available at VIA Arena for VT6421A). It got added as a "20 PCI Option ROM". (Using MMTOOL).

Now i can use my cheap-ass pci-sata/ide-raid card with the features it's supposed to have (RAID 0/1, JBOD).

It also showed up in BIOS under boot order settings and i can now also boot from this controller (which i cursed when i bought it).

I'm glad this worked because the sucky JMicron JMB363 RAID controller on my mobo (Asus P5B-VM) that will only work on the sata ports (one SATA and one eSATA port). It cant create RAID from the drives on the IDE-interface that it controls (wierd huh?).

Could you post a link to that ROM file. I can't find it at VIA Arena. Thanks!

Thanks, my friend!

The file is a PCI ROM file with vendor ID of 1106h and device ID of 3249h that corrosponds to the card. Neat!

Could this file be used for VIA motherboards using the VT8237 Southbridge? AFAIK this southbridge has the VT6421 SATA-controller integrated.

Thanx for the help.

I have a Asus P5q with an AMI bios, v2208.

I wanted to integrate a module for my PCI sata controller - VIA VT6421A . Added in the 6421V431.ROM to Asus bios with MMTOOL,
(this was listed as a 20 PCI module) and flashed the new file with Asus EZ. My card is now detected correctly during boot. Yeeha !
