well, the problem may be solved. I just spoke with the computer guy at my workplace (the original source of this computer). He gave me a 3 GB Drive to try instead of the 30. If this works, then I won't need the bios upgrade.

He might actually prefer a MRBIOS BIOS... then. http://www.knowplace.org/bios.html MR_FIC_.ZIP... both releases are there (just the different I/O). Supposing this works, how does a "shareware" bios work? If I upgrade and don't pay the shareware fees on time, will my CPU Explode? Or will my computer...

Where is the I/O chip on the motherboard? Is it something that is usually clearly labeled? (I just don't want to get home, open the box and stare at it like an idiot for an hour looking for the right chip.)

Check if the board has flash write protection jumper - that might be the problem.

It's lots stabler and more reliable

AMIFlash 6.34 didn't work because it is for AMI BIOS. I have an Award BIOS.
