Hi all, my first post so be gentle!

I have an Acer Aspire L3600 as my media PC under my television.

I love it and it is running Vista Home Premium SP1. However it only has 1 Gb RAM and I want to upgrade to 2.

I have purchased 2x1GB sticks SODIMM DDR2 PC2-5300 from MrMemory.co.uk .

My machine gives no beeps, no post, no nothing. I returned the RAM and got replacement sticks, Still no joy. I tried:
Ram A in Slot 1 and Ram B in slot 2.
Ram B in Slot 1 and Ram A in slot 2.
Ram A in Slot 1 and nothing in slot 2.
Ram A in slot 2 and nothing in slot 1.
Ram B in slot 1 and nothing in slot 2.
Ram B in slot 2 and nothing in slot 1.

Still nothing so I returned to the original RAM and all is well.

I complained again about the RAM and it has been suggested that a bios upgrade may be the answer.

I am not so sure that it might not be the right thing to do but information on this PC seems to be thin on the ground. Acer certainly don't offer a step by step guide, in fact they actively discourage you from BIOS flashing by voiding your warranty if you try.!

I have downloaded BIOS RO1-BO for this PC but am scared to proceed!

Info/ideas folk?

Thanks and sorry to blather on, more info available if required, All the best, Epirb.
