I am running Win 98 SE.
When I bought the computer 2/3 years ago the store put a password for the bios access - I presume as it was a demo machine.
They can not tell me the password nor can the manufacters Fiutsu Siemens.
Can anyone tell me how I can remove this password?
Bios Password
If using the Clear CMOS jumper works, all your BIOS settings will be restored to defaults. This is what resetting the password usually relies on - most programs will not be able to reset just the password, but will instead reset all BIOS settings to defaults. So if the default BIOS password is a blank password, all BIOS settings will be reset to defaults, the password will be set the default of blank or no password, and you will be able to get into the BIOS without a password.
Once the CMOS is cleared, enter into the BIOS and load defaults (performance or optimal on an AWARD, or whatever is listed last, is best and usually works fine.

Look for a small plastic bridge, joining a couple of pins, next to the onboard battery.

The Clear CMOS jumper will be in a different position on every mainboard.
Best to find out your mainboard make and model, and find a manual.
Or there might be something printed on the board which indicates which jumper this is.
If all fails, removing the battery, only for a few mins if your lucky, should also cause the CMOS memory to lose it's content, as the battery provides the power source to keep the content stored.
