Hi all,
I had a small question. If a BIOS chip gets defected, how easy is it to replace the BIOS with a new one, does this happen frequently, and more importantly, is it feasible to replace a BIOS from one manufacturer with a BIOS from another one (say replacing a PHOENIX BIOS with a non-AWARD BIOS).
Thanks in advance

If a chip is defect then you should try to get a replacement chip of the same type as already installed with a Bios matching your board programmed or flashed in.
In 99% of all cases it is not possible to use a Bios from a diferent board although you might use a Flashrom from a different board to flash a Bios for your board into this chip (using Hot-Swap/Hotflash).
