I have a old motherboard id: 10/18/96 i430vx-10031996c-00.award bios
I`m trying to update the bios and it won`t let me.
i have tried all these bins: 5300916s.bin,5201016s.bin,5300916l.bin,5201016l.bin,52x1016s.bin,vxawd400.binvx3037s.bin
it all comes back different part number. The only one that works is aysun.bin but it is the same version of the one i have none of the updates will take it.

Use Uniflash or Awdflash with /py /sn parameters

We have a patched Bios for larger HDD if you need - Link in my Sig

There's no more than 32MB SDRAM possible on any i430Vx board

What Dennis meant was that VX boards only support 32MB SDRAM DIMMs, not that they'll support a total of 32MB of SDRAM.

If you do have an M538, you can get it to support 64MB of SDRAM (total), as long as you use 2 16-chip 32MB SDRAM DIMMs.

Note: I once had a couple of "special" 64MB SDRAM DIMMs with 32 chips each that were fully recognized by VX boards, but the tremendous power draw destabilized the system.

Best way to upgrade RAM on a i430VX based board is EDO .
As EDO should be very cheap at Ebay or similar auctions get 4x32MB for 128MB in total .
I'm using 96MB at the moment on my 3rd computer and it runs relatively fine but some smaller problems had to be resolved as my 16mb sticks are 8-chip and my 32 are 4-chip(internally maybe 8-chip)

I would agree...the DFI is running 128 of EDO as well as my M520. Win98SE on both...though soon the DFI will move to Win2k... :D
