Hi Guys
I am battling to get a system to boot from a 128Mb USB memory stick that I have installed linux onto and would appreciate some pointers inthe right direction.
I have a Gigabyte 6BXC motherboard with a 300Mhz processor on it. It is running an Award Bios V4.51PG and I have upgraded to the latest version of Bios V.4fc from the Gigabyte web site. It is running a 440BXc chipset and has 2 intergrated USB ports.
I have been trying to set the motherboard up to boot from the USB port but seem unable to get it to work by changing BIos settings. I am able to get my other machine which has a clear "Boot From usb" option in the BIOS settings so I knwo the USB stick is working.
Is it possible to upgrade the Bios higher than versin 4.51? Any suggestions on how else I may be able to get this to work, perhaps a bootable stiffy disk which would then enable me to boot from the USB port?
Suggestions anybody?
Thanks
JohnB

I don't know...I was just throwing out a suggestion.
The problems would be -
1) Obtaining sample code from a known working compatible BIOS.
2) Writing your own code to perform this operation (to avoid any copywrite infringement).
3) Seeing if the current BIOS has the "hooks" required to install the patch.
4) Seeing if you have enough free space in your current BIOS to add the patch.
5) Finding someone smart enough to do this.
