Do you have the latest sound drivers from C-Media http://www.cmedia.com.tw?

Some PC Chips boards have jumper - microphone type selector.
Patched and tested BIOSes are at http://wims.rainbow-software.org

Thanks for the reply. I downloaded and installed latest available drivers from c-media.

The manual for mother board does not show any jumper settings for microphone selection.

Thanks Thomas.

I have checked the volume control screen for output with mike disabled for volume control and mike enabled for recording.

I am using the same microphone pictured in the FAQ.

MoBo has four TCA type jacks for sound. Mike is plugged into the one marked for microphone, bottom-most with PC upright.

I have tried the second jack from top because in some lit I saw reference to woofer and mike sharing the same jack. That does not work either. :x
