Hallo! I have a problem with my 386 PC and I´m not able to solve it.

Turning on my 386 PC I got after the Memory Test the following error message: "Keyboard is locked - Unlock it. Press F1 to resume".

I can see the 3 lights on the Keyboard for a short time, but I haven´t access to my Setup. (Pressing "DEL" to run Setup doesn´t work.)

I have a 386-SC-HQ mainboard.

How can I test whether my Keyboard connector doesn´t work?
Could my Keyboard-BIOS (77 P8042A HP) be damaged?
Could my 386 AMI-BIOS (ZA 521113 1986-1990) has a disfunction?

Would can I do to solve my problem???

Please help me if you can.

Are you familiar with the keyboard lock? The little keyhole on the cases of older PCs? If this is switched to the lock position you cannot operate the keyboard. Do you have a key for it? Probably would have been supplied with the PC? Otherwise disconnecting the appropriate connector on the mainboard (from the keylock connector on the case front panel) probably results in the keyboard lock defaulting to an unlocked status. Otherwise possible that you simply have a faulty keyboard (which may be quite true if there have been no hardware changes immediately prior to this problem) which may be confusing the BIOS.

My problem is solved!

I disconnected the keyboard-lock-connector on the mainboard and started the PC => the keyboard works.

Thank you for your help
