Hi

Some manufacturers (AFAIK Gigabyte, maybe others as well, called LiveUpdate or similar) offer a Windows Tool which does connect to the manufacturers website, check there for latest upgrades and flash them if the user wishes to do so.

This is not a feature built into the Bios itself (and never will be).

Bye

Thomas,
Thank you for reply. I am going to check out these manufacturer's web sites if available. However, i really am trying to find out a couple of things in details:

1. if these bios can be silently or latently could be updated, then what kind of security is built around it?

2. what protocol is used to send these updates?

3. can this feature be turned off ?

4. and any other characteristics

appreciate any feed back,

adil

It's not automatic. You must run the update utility - it will connect to manufacturer's server (either using HTTP or FTP protocol) and check for new version. If you want, it will download it and then flash.

I have heard that there are some motherboards which can do silent or latent bios updates? Does anyone know about this type of bios or motherboards which have this feature?

Some HP systems have an executable that can be run in "silent" mode, ie: no user interaction.

But to what end? You can't deploy BIOS upgrades over the network.
Flash your BIOS at your own risk.
