I have an old mobo BVC2b with 2MB Award PnP BIOS.
There are no words about flashing in the manual, however the chip
SST 39SF020 /5V could be flushed!?
AwardFlash 7.88 utility yeilds the following info:
BIOS: 693-596-W977T-2A6LGPNFC-00
Date: 07.31.2000
Checksum: FF81H
1. Could this BIOS be updated in principle?
2. Considering that PROCOMP don't produce any mobo now, where I can
load the new update?
Note that site http://www.procomp.com.tw is unloadable for me (FTP problem?).

Link works just fine: http://www.procomp.com.tw/driver/j2-1.asp?type=bvc2b

But you're right, the FTP is a bit messed up. You can either wait a few days, or if you're really impatient, download the latest release (V1.3) from this alternative site:
ftp://ftp.zdnet.de/pcpro/treiber/mboard ... c2b130.zip

Note that chineese site has bios size about 128KB.
However I saved my old BIOS by awdflash and obtained about 256KB!
May be it couldn't be updated?

The problem with connection to PROCOMP site is remaining.

Curiosity is sometimes very useful... did you try downloading the file from the alternative link? I suppose not. You would have noticed the file's size is somewhere between 125 and 126KB in size (Procomp mentions 126KB).
Have you tried decompressing the zip? No sir... you would have noticed that the BIOS file is 256KB in size.

Yes, I try both sites without any result. It seems that I couldn't connect to FTP servers. I know about ZIP- files, so I just suppose.

The problem is solved!
Now I restore the crush process:
When I put the BIOS chip in the socket I didn't press it properly. So some contact were loosed and the BIOS reprogrammed itself.

I reprogrammed the BIOS with AMIFlash, however I don't have asynhronouse mode in that release too.

Happy New Year to ALL!
