question about my Shuttle Av 30 mobo with P-3 1000MHZ

hello everyone,
i need a question answered about my AV30 board here's what i have in it
Shuttle AV30V11 MoBo
Award Bios
Intel Pentuim 3 1000MHZ prcessor
Cpu cooler fan and case fan
GeForce2 MX400 Video card
1 512mb ddr ram micron
2 256MB ddr ram micron
and the rest is common stuff
CD/RW
DVD 16 X
20 gig ibm hard drive 5400 rpm
100 gig ibm hard drive 7200 rpm
standard 3.5 floppy drive

Everytime i try to boot it and install win XP on it, it hungs up during the setup, sometimes it doesnt even get past the loading dmi pool data ,
why does this happen ?
anyone got any ideas on what i can do to fix it?

Try more conservative settings in BIOS.
Also, try underclocking your PIII just for testing purposes.
Your RAM could be faulty, too. Try using your PC with just one of those two modules at a time.

TY for the help
well i tried installing win Xp with differnt configurations
tried each memory module bois set to fail safe defaults no go
tried just the 20 gig HD DVD 256 mb mem bois set to failsafe defaults no go
tried 20 gig hd cd/rw 256 mb mem bois set to failsafe defaults no go
tried 100 gig hd ,dvd 256 mb mem bois set to failsafe defaults no go
tried 100 gig hd cd/rw 256mb mem bois set to failsafe defaults no go

so on a weird thinking string i thought well the manul says all drivers are for win 9X , win NT so i tried installing win98 well it installed ran the first time and here i'm thinking its just dont like Xp any way i'll have to finish later i need to go Blame582

if win95/98/Me installs and NT/2000/XP does not, your memory is the problem in 99 of 100 cases...

sorry i didnt get to finish earlier

anyway now that win 98 is set up and it ran the first time it now gives me 2 error when ever i try to start win98 its been running the system Registory Checker also every time i boot, Dos runs fine

error 1 Explorer caused invaled page faualt in Explorer.exe
error 2 Error loading powrprof.dll ( A dynamic link library(DLL) initialization routine failed)

the system Registory checker fixs C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM.DAT
everytime i boot it

any idea on what this could be?

yea it most likly the memory is no good got off of ebay @ a pretty cheap price for what it is
