BTW, they BS'ed you regarding the minimum processor support for a DVD burner. I have an 8X DVD burner working just fine with a P3-450 system. Even a P2-350 would work fine.

Our previous system was a Pentium II 350 with a Sony 8x CD Burner, which was fine, although the combination of a slower PC and disk fragmentation meant that it was not always possible to burn at the maximum speed. I wouldn't expect the best performance for CD and DVD burning for PCs around this vintage but I don't believe that they require 2.4GHz+.
